4Evergreen Farm produces wonderfully tasting jams and jellies. Using fresh ripe fruit allows us to use very little sugar and still have a sweet product. Frequent requests for "sugar free" will result in a few jams and jellies, this year that are sweetened with stevia. Stevia is a natural sweetener that has no calories and is part of a diabetic diet. Besides, traditional single fruit jams, Denise and Denny Wade combine fruit to make unique, flavorful jams. In addition to fruit, chilies are used to make our pepper jams.
Chander Hill Farm We purchased this beautiful 60 acre farm in Geauga County in 2013 with the goal of being able to share great food raised as humanely as possible without antibiotics, hormones or genetically modified feed. Our livestock includes 100% grass fed beef & lamb; pasture raised pork, chicken, turkey, duck & goose as well as eggs from our free range chickens & ducks which we sell at our farm store. We chose to focus on 'slow food' heritage breeds. They do take longer to get to table size, but for us they are worth the extra wait - superior taste & mounting evidence that meat & eggs from 100% grass fed & pasture raised animals are a much healthier eating choice. We really do grow great food & it is not at the expense of our animal's well being. In fact you will see that our animals live happy lives & are allowed to exhibit all the natural behaviors of their species. Please come & see for yourself. Maple Crest Farm is an 1850 Geauga County farm that was originally a dairy farm. After many years of farming inactivity, I began growing vegetables as a hobby in a small garden on the very fertile cropland. This hobby quickly developed into a very interesting and expanding produce operation. I initially focused on a limited selection of vegetables, but quickly recognized the demand for clean, healthy, locally grown produce. I started selling at local farmers markets, and as my customer base grew, I gradually expanded the varieties of produce available. Much of this was based on customer requests and suggestions. There are many favorites throughout the season, and these include spring greens, spinach, sugar snap peas, incredible baby grilling onions, rhubarb, and two varieties of chemical free strawberries. As the season progresses, other favorites are the green beans, pickling cucumbers, cantaloupes and a wide selection of winter squash. The produce is naturally grown utilizing composted manure and organic matter as fertilizer, rotation of crops to reduce the risk of disease and insects, as well as intensive weed control through cultivation. I have been providing locally grown produce at several local farmers markets for the last nine years. I appreciate the support of my customers, and take great pride in offering a high quality product to the educated consumer. Patrick Cozzens Maple Crest Farm 11340 Bartholomew Rd. Sugarbush Creek Farm is located in the highlands of Geauga county and is operated by the Cermak family. Jim Cermak has been producing award winning maple syrup for over 40 years. The Cermaks currently taps over 2200 trees on the family farm that has 45 acres of sustainably managed forest. Sugarbush Creek Farm has both the traditional wood fire evaporator and state of the art wireless tubing monitoring system. The best Geauga Maple syrup begins with the best trees, and caring for the trees is like caring for a garden, just on a different scale. A chainsaw is used to "weed" the forest to enhance productivity and sustainability. Sap becomes syrup when the sugar is concentrated by removing water. This is done over a roaring wood fire which produces a flavor like no other. Nothing is added to enhance the color, thickness, flavor, or sweetness. It is a natural and healthy sweetener. From our family to yours, purely the best tasting maple products Geauga county has to offer.
